Lux Radio Theatre: Panic in the Streets

In a New Orleans slum late at night, a vicious group of waterfront hustlers murder an illegal immigrant because he won too much money from them in a card game. The next morning a doctor with the Public Health Service discovers the dead man was suffering with pneumonic plague.

Before a catastrophic epidemic breaks out, the doctor must find and inoculate the killers. A reluctant police captain, who is skeptical, must work with the doctor in complete secrecy lest they set off a citywide panic.

The two men must have 48 hours to track down the killers -- or else.
