The Aldrich Family first started off as characters in a Broadway Play. Rudy Vallee saw the play and wanted to incorporate the characters into some comedy sketches on his radio show. The sketches had tremendous audience acceptance, which, in turn, resulted in a regular weekly segment on Kate Smith's radio program.

The popularity of the characters on Kate Smith created an audience demand for The Aldrich Family to be spun off into its own show.  The new show spent one summer as a replacement series before it was given its own regular season time slot.

All in all, The Aldrich Family could be heard on the radio from 1939 to 1953 -- many of those years the show was among the top 10 ratings winners.

The Aldrich Family lives at 117 Elm Street in Centerville.  No state given. Henry, the family's teenage son, goes to Central High School with his best friend Home.

The stories center on Henry (a perennial adolescent during the entire run of the show) and his adventures at school, with his friends, and especially with girls!

Give a listen and you will instantly be taken back to your teenage years.  True, much has changed over the years -- but you will be surprised how many things have stayed the same!
