Frontier Gentleman

Frontier Gentleman involves the adventures of an English newspaperman, J.B. Kendall, who travels throughout the American West in the 1870s, documenting what life was like on America's frontier.

One of the unique features of the show is the way Kendall meets up with a number of true historical characters -- folks like Calamity Jane, Frank and Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok, Sitting Bull and even General George Armstrong Custer.

As the series progressed we learned more and more Kendall's background. For much of his life he had been an officer in the British Army, stationed in the Punjab region of India. We learn that while he is somewhat aristocratic, he is by no means a dandy. His Army experience made him a rather fearless and extremely competent soldier well versed in the use of firearms.

As with most skilled soldiers, Kendall developed a wide knowledge of many subjects --  and thus the confidence to handle almost any situation.

Kendall is well played by John Dehner, a consummate radio actor who also went on to appear in over 260 movies and TV programs. You may hear him frequently on radio programs such as Gunsmoke and The Adventures of Philip Marlowe. before taking the starring role of the Frontier Gentleman.
