Hollywood Star Playhouse - Exhibit A
When a woman exits a bus in a deserted part of town late one night she is attacked and brutally murdered. The crime gets wide notoriety and comes to be known as the "blonde torso murder."
Steve Harkin is a troubled man. His wife has left him and he feels isolated and insignificant. If only he could do something to make people notice him he is sure his wife, Helen, would return to him.
Steve goes to the police and Lt. Dunham to confess to the murder. At first Dunham thinks Steve a kook, just like a line-up of other would-be confessors he has interviewed.
But then Steve presents presents exhibit A and his false confession backfires. He is arrested and tried for murder.
