Johnny Dollar is a freelance insurance investigator who gets called in when companies suspect insurance fraud. It is up to Johnny to investigate, track down and identify crimes that have been comitted -- sometimes even murder.

One of the great features of the show is Johnny's "action packed expense account."  Each episode ends with Dollar totaling up his expenses as he closes the case with a philosphical observation. 

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar ran from 1949 to 1962 on CBS.  Jack Johnstone produced and directed most of the programs; Jaime Del Valle also directed some episodes.  

Of all the actors to play Johnny, Bob Bailey is considered by most OTR fans to be the best. It was obvious that actor Bailey was born to play the role of Johnny, bringing to his portrayal a realistic depth and likeability that had been lacking in earlier versions of the show with other actors as Johnny.

As you listen to Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, notice how he painstakingly pursues each case to its conclusion. Extensive research has obviously gone into each script.  Notable too is that the action takes place in real locations, complete with real street names -- even actual landmarks are frequently noted throughout the shows.
