The Whistler was a crime anthology drama which became a particular favorite of mystery show buffs. It played in the Western United States
from 1942 to 1955 on CBS

The Whistler narrated the stories presented. Other shows had similar hosts or narrators but The Whistler was the only one who was eerily omniscient and even philosophical.

While there was no physical description given to The Whistler, you can't help but pictures a dark figure in perhaps a dark trenchcoat and hat watching from the shadows. The Whistler was quite pleased to observe criminal human behavior, even murder, and then share it with his listeners.

The fun part of the show was always the surprise twist at the very end of each story.
